The 64th State Athletic Championship, organised by Odisha Athletic Association (OAA) simultaneously here at Barabati Stadium, Reserve Police Ground and Satyabrata Stadium from April 1, 2017, produced a total of 21 new records, which included four new state records (NSR) and 17 new meet records (NMR). Cuttack emerged overall champions with 543 points, while Sundargarh finished runners-up with 353 points.
Parbati Sethi (East Coast Railway), Hari Behera (Cuttack), Farook Ahmad (Nuapara) and Kishore Kumar Jena (Bhubaneswar) created the four new state records in women’s discus, men’s shot put, hammer and javelin events respectively. Cuttack runner Samsad Ara Begum established two new meet records in women’s long-distance events.
